I don't quite understand how the patent system works in the US and in much respect to Europe.
I have heard that a pattern of operation can be patented. what are the implications, has anyone been taken to court yet over a software patent based on pattern of usage.
I have seen the cases with nokia, palm and Apple. If I write something based on these patterns of operation, will I need a licence?
